About the Role
Boehringer Ingelheim is a global pharmaceutical company committed to positively impacting the health of people and animals, the planet, and communities worldwide. As a University Intern within the Environment Health & Safety (EHS) team at our Pirbright site, you will gain hands-on experience supporting EHS management programmes and sustainability initiatives. You will work closely with colleagues across the site and occasionally within the UK and Ireland region to promote safe working practices, environmental stewardship, and compliance with UK legislation and corporate standards.
During this internship, you will contribute to waste management, trade effluent control, and green behaviour initiatives. You will assist with EHS inspections, audits, incident investigations, and educational campaigns. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop both technical EHS knowledge and soft skills such as influencing, active listening, and teamwork within a passionate and supportive environment.

Experience
Applicants should be studying for a BSc in Environmental Sciences, Environment and Sustainability, Safety, Health and Environment Management, Occupational Safety and Health Management, or a similar degree. Experience with Microsoft Office is essential, with the ability to adapt to local systems and platforms. Experience writing safety documentation or risk assessments and running or publishing events or campaigns is desirable but not required.

You must be highly motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills within a business environment. You should be organised, able to plan activities effectively, meet deadlines, and follow instructions while remaining flexible to changing priorities. A professional approach that upholds company values and complies with legal and HSE requirements is essential. You must have the ability to travel independently to work and other sites.
Qualifications
Applicants must have 3 A levels at grade ABB minimum, with at least one grade from a science subject. You must have the right to work in the UK.
