Hours
Basic Hours Contract - 9.25 hours per week (1 day) guaranteed, with the possibility of up to 37 hours (4 days) depending on work availability. Overtime paid at standard rate beyond the basic hours. Shifts start at 06:15 and finish at 16:15 with a 45-minute break. Annualised hours contract with pro-rata annual leave.
Salary
Grade 4 Pro-Rata - £6,600 to £7,035 per annum, plus additional overtime opportunities
About the Role
Walsall Council's Street Scene operations are recruiting Waste Collections Operatives to join our Waste and Street Cleansing services. Our teams operate borough-wide, handling multiple waste streams including residual waste, recycling, garden waste, and trade waste. Familiarity with Walsall and experience in waste collection or related services is advantageous. The role is physically demanding and requires individuals who can deliver a key public service with high-quality customer care. This position offers potential progression to full-time employment and other internal opportunities. The post holder must communicate effectively in spoken English as per the Government’s English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.
Experience
Experience in waste collection or related services is beneficial but not essential. Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the role and provide excellent customer service.
