About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Waste Enforcement Team. You will be responsible for investigating waste offences, which includes fly-tipping, duty of care, littering offences, storage and presentation of waste, and general complaint work. Your duties will involve patrolling designated areas, gathering evidence, issuing penalties/community protection warnings, and collaborating with local communities to prevent fly-tipping. As an officer, you will work alongside other enforcement agencies and educate the public on the legal and environmental impacts of fly-tipping and littering.
Experience
You must have experience in issuing fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and legal notices to individuals and businesses, preparing evidence and documentation for legal proceedings, and ensuring cases are processed according to relevant regulations. Experience with Community Protection Notices is also required.
About you
You should possess excellent customer care skills, with the ability to deal sensitively with residents, businesses, Councillors, and other statutory bodies in potentially confrontational situations. Strong people skills and a pragmatic approach to problem solving and conflict resolution are essential.
Qualifications
A good working knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Anti-social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, the Control of Pollution Act, and PACE is required. IT skills are essential, including confidence in using computer systems and MS Office software.
