About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Enfield Council’s Waste Enforcement Team. This high-profile role is at the frontline of tackling environmental crime, helping to keep our borough clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. You will play a key role in seeking long-term solutions to persistent problems and working with partners to deter repeat offending. As a Waste Enforcement Officer, you will lead investigations into waste and environmental offences including fly-tipping, littering, and improper storage and presentation of domestic and commercial waste. You will gather evidence, prepare case files, and present evidence in court. The role involves issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), statutory notices, and Community Protection Notices where appropriate, conducting witness and suspect interviews in line with PACE, deploying mobile CCTV cameras, and seizing vehicles involved in waste crime. You will respond to service requests, councillor enquiries, and Freedom of Information requests professionally and promptly. Working in partnership with the Police, internal council teams, and external agencies, you will engage with residents and businesses to encourage compliance and prevent environmental crime.

Why Work for Enfield Council
Enfield Council offers an excellent pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), up to 32 days annual leave depending on grade and length of service plus eight public holidays and an extra day off at Christmas. Additional benefits include an interest-free season ticket loan, career development and learning opportunities, an Employee Assistance Programme providing free and confidential advice and counselling, health and leisure discounts, tax-free bikes for work, and a paid sabbatical for registered Social Workers in Children's Social Care. The council fosters a culture that puts customers at the heart of everything it does by empowering staff to work collaboratively, be open and respectful, take responsibility, and continuously learn.
