About the Role
We are Ofwat, the Water Services Regulation Authority, responsible for regulating the water sector in England and Wales. Following the Independent Water Commission’s final report, the UK government has set out a bold new direction to deliver better outcomes for customers and the environment by collaborating with the Drinking Water Inspectorate, Environment Agency, Natural England, and Welsh Government. Our mission remains to hold water companies to account, drive performance, and ensure the sector delivers real value for customers, communities, and the environment.
The Water Supply Technical Specialist role is a key position within the Water Quality, Resilience and Security sub-team, part of the Water Supply team in the RAPID and Environmental Planning Directorate. You will work closely with regulators and government bodies on water supply issues from source to tap, and collaborate with the Price Review Directorate.
Your responsibilities will include assessing Company Delivery Plans, Price Control Deliverables (PCDs), and Annual Performance Review (APR) data to oversee company performance; engaging with water companies on large scheme processes to support cost-effective delivery; assessing cost change submissions including benchmarking and detailed reviews; and contributing to the development of the next price review framework. You will also respond to ad-hoc queries on costing options related to water quality, treatment, resilience, and security.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for professionals with backgrounds in engineering, water or environmental science, operational or asset management, or related fields who want to work in a regulatory environment and make a positive impact on the water sector.
