Description

Location
Cheadle Point, Cheadle Place, Stockport Road, Cheadle, SK8 2JX. This is a site-based role requiring travel to sites across the North West of the UK, with occasional office-based training days.

Hours
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Occasional overtime may be required, so flexibility is essential.

Salary
£19,500 - £23,809 per year (dependent on age). Salary increases upon completion of PCERT qualifications.

About the Role
Life Environmental Services Ltd, an independent National Environmental Consultancy established in 1995, is seeking two motivated individuals to join as Level 3 Asbestos Surveyor and Analyst Apprentices. You will earn a salary while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification through a structured training and development programme. Your work will involve supporting experienced teams on-site across a variety of environments including homes, commercial properties, and industrial sites.

Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out asbestos analysis tasks such as air quality and reassurance monitoring, fibre counting, four-stage clearance inspections, personal and compliance air testing, and assisting with asbestos removal project management.
- Conducting asbestos surveying tasks including collecting and labelling bulk material samples, undertaking Management, Refurbishment, and Demolition Surveys, completing Priority Risk Assessments, and ensuring proper sample handling and data uploading.

The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to obtain BOHS P402, P403, and P404 qualifications, becoming a certified Asbestos Analyst and Surveyor. You will be provided with a company van, equipment, PPE, pension, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and regular training and CPD opportunities.

This role offers a clear career progression path, including potential full-time employment after apprenticeship completion, opportunities to become a registered Technician (RSci Tech), and further education such as a Level 6 Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Materials Science or Applied Chemical Science.

Requirements

Experience
Previous experience is beneficial but not essential. We value enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude above all.

About you
You must be accurate, diligent, and accountable with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail. Being results-driven and able to quickly identify issues and record findings accurately is essential. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and able to think on your feet and make sound decisions.

A genuine commitment to health and safety and adherence to asbestos industry standards and regulations is critical. Strong communication skills, reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.

Due to the site-based nature of this role, you must be aged 20 or over, hold a clean UK driving licence, and be willing to travel daily to different sites. The role may involve occasional heavy lifting, working at heights, and in confined spaces.

Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required to apply. The most successful apprentices are those with drive, honesty about their current knowledge, and a strong desire to learn and develop in the sector.

Applicants must meet UK Government apprenticeship eligibility criteria: be over 20, not in full-time education, have lived in the UK for at least 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK. Those holding a Level 3, degree, or equivalent higher qualification in a related field may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding.
