Description

Location
4 Ducketts Wharf, South Street, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 3AR. This is a site-based role requiring travel to sites across the South East of the UK, with occasional office-based training days.

Hours
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm. Occasional overtime opportunities available, flexibility required.

Salary
£19,500 - £23,809 per year (dependent on age). Salary increases upon completion of PCERT qualifications.

About the Role
Life Environmental Services Ltd, an independent National Environmental Consultancy established in 1995, is seeking two motivated individuals to join as Level 3 Asbestos Surveyor and Analyst Apprentices. You will earn a salary while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification through a structured training and development programme. The role involves supporting experienced teams on-site across a variety of environments including homes, commercial properties, and industrial sites.

As an Asbestos Analyst, you will carry out air quality and reassurance monitoring, fibre counting, four-stage clearance inspections, personal and compliance air testing, complete certificates and reports accurately, and assist with asbestos removal project management.

As an Asbestos Surveyor, you will collect and label bulk material samples safely, undertake Management, Refurbishment, and Demolition Surveys, complete Priority Risk Assessments, work across domestic, commercial, and industrial properties, and ensure sample handling and data uploading follow company procedures.

The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to obtain BOHS P402, P403, and P404 qualifications, becoming a certified Asbestos Analyst and Surveyor. You will be provided with a company van, equipment, PPE, pension, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and regular training and CPD opportunities.

This role offers a clear career pathway with potential for full-time employment upon completion, opportunities to become a registered Technician (RSci Tech), and further educational progression such as a Level 6 Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Materials Science or Applied Chemical Science Apprenticeship.

Requirements

Experience
Previous experience is beneficial but not essential. We value the right attitude and aptitude over prior experience. Experience working with tools, equipment, or in technical settings is advantageous.

About you
You must be accurate, diligent, and accountable with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail. You should be results-driven, able to identify issues quickly, and confident in making sound decisions on site. A genuine commitment to health and safety and safe working practices is essential. You should be friendly, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are required due to varied locations and interactions.

Due to the site-based nature of the role, you must be aged 20 or over, hold a clean UK Driving Licence, and be willing to travel daily to different sites. The role involves occasional heavy lifting, working at heights, and in confined spaces.

Qualifications
Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are more important than formal qualifications. Apprentices must not already hold a Level 3 qualification or higher in a closely related field, as the apprenticeship is designed for upskilling or reskilling. You must not be in full-time education, must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK.
