We work across incredible global industries, delivering exciting work that is defining our future and making an important societal impact in the communities we serve. Our people power our performance – we succeed when they do. With countless opportunities to collaborate, learn, and grow, the possibilities for excellence are as varied as every individual. Whether you want to grow as a subject matter expert or broaden your experience with roles across our international community, you're surrounded by global specialists who want to combine their expertise and champion you to be your best. As a proudly employee-owned business, we benefit our clients, our communities, and each other, investing in creating the right space for everyone to feel empowered, included, and valued. Whatever your ambition, Mott MacDonald is where people come to be brilliant.

Environmental and social considerations are central to Mott MacDonald's purpose and its offerings across all sectors and territories. Our environment and social business provides essential services and innovative solutions which anticipate our clients' needs across all sectors.

Mott MacDonald is leading the way in Nature Services and we are looking for an Assistant Ecologist to join our Ecology Team to help integrate nature into all developments so that together with our clients we can build a better future. We pride ourselves on setting and maintaining high standards and are at the forefront of providing ecological advice. Our team has written guidance and delivered training on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and contributed to CIEEM's raising standards documents.

The team has a diverse workload from producing BNG assessments and strategies to undertaking specialist species surveys. We are undertaking ecological work for major infrastructure projects including the Lower Thames Crossing, water companies, and Environment Agency schemes. We are also involved with landscape scale planning to deliver nature recovery to various clients.

The projects you will be working on can span all stages of a project's life cycle, from design conception to implementation; giving opportunities to positively influence scheme design, enhancements, and promote best practice. The Croydon team consists of 8 members ranging from Graduate to Senior Associate level and works closely with the wider Ecology Team. Our Croydon office is well situated close to East Croydon train station.

Although you will be a member of the Croydon ecology team, you will also be connected to a much larger team of ecologists. There are excellent opportunities to progress your career through promotion, as well as develop a key role within our ecology team.

This role will suit a dynamic, proactive team-player who wants to work in a growth area of the business and help support the delivery of ecology services (particularly BNG) in a fast-moving, client-focused, commercial environment.

We offer a hybrid working policy that embraces your well-being, flexibility, and trust. We put equality, diversity, and inclusion at the heart of our business, promoting fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all. We encourage individual expression and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels they can contribute.

We provide a comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance, health cash plans, pension matching, life assurance, income protection, flexible benefits, generous holiday entitlement, enhanced family leave, and extensive learning and development opportunities. You will also have access to employee networks supporting diversity and inclusion and opportunities to make a difference within our communities.
