About the Division
Environmental and social considerations are central to Mott MacDonald's Purpose and its offerings across all sectors and territories. Our environment and social business provides essential services and innovative solutions which anticipate our clients' needs across all sectors.

Role Overview
Mott MacDonald is leading the way in Nature Services and is looking for an Assistant Ecologist to join our Ecology Team to help integrate nature into all developments, working alongside clients to build a better future. We pride ourselves on setting and maintaining high standards and are at the forefront of providing ecological advice. Our team has written guidance and delivered training on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and contributed to CIEEM's raising standards documents.

The team manages a diverse workload including producing BNG assessments and strategies, undertaking specialist species surveys, and ecological work for major infrastructure projects such as the Lower Thames Crossing, water companies, and Environment Agency schemes. We are also involved in landscape scale planning to deliver nature recovery for various clients.

The projects span all stages of a project's life cycle, from design conception to implementation, providing opportunities to positively influence scheme design, enhancements, and promote best practice. The Croydon team consists of 8 members ranging from Graduate to Senior Associate level and works closely with the wider Ecology Team. The Croydon office is conveniently located near East Croydon train station.

This role suits a dynamic, proactive team player who wants to work in a growth area of the business and support the delivery of ecology services, particularly BNG, in a fast-moving, client-focused, commercial environment. There are excellent opportunities for career progression and development within the ecology team.
