About the Role
What if you could do the kind of work the world needs? At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. Our specialist Health and Life Sciences Advisory (HLSA) team supports healthcare providers, public sector organisations and life sciences clients in creating estates and infrastructure that deliver better services, improve patient outcomes, innovate and support future growth. As an Assistant Surveyor, you will work alongside experienced property consultants and surveyors on some of the UK's most complex and impactful health and life sciences estate programmes. You will gain exposure to a broad range of property advisory disciplines including estate strategy, valuation, development consultancy, agency and transactions, helping clients optimise their property portfolios, secure investment and deliver long-term value and operational efficiency. From an early stage, you will have opportunities to work directly with clients, attend stakeholder workshops and contribute to the delivery of high-profile advisory commissions. This role offers a clear pathway for progression towards Chartered Surveyor status through the RICS APC pathway, supported by mentoring, training and practical experience across a wide range of property disciplines. You will develop skills to provide specialist property consultancy services and related technical advice, helping clients shape and deliver effective estate strategies. Your work will support major NHS Trusts and public sector organisations to transform their estates, optimise property portfolios and unlock investment opportunities. You will contribute to development appraisals, business cases and investment strategies shaping the future of healthcare and life sciences infrastructure across the UK. You will assist in agency services including property disposals, acquisitions and lettings, provide consultancy advice on leases, ownership and legal title occupation, and support qualified surveyors in the preparation and delivery of Red Book valuations. No two days are the same: you might analyse property and planning data for an estate strategy, join client workshops to test redevelopment options, work on development appraisals or support lease negotiations. You will collaborate closely with surveyors, architects, town planners and infrastructure specialists, gaining multidisciplinary experience at pace. Much of the work is live and client-facing, with your contributions directly influencing how healthcare and life sciences estates are used across the UK. This is an excellent platform for ambitious assistant surveyors looking to build a long-term career advising some of the UK's most important healthcare and life sciences organisations.
