About the Role
A fantastic career opportunity has arisen for a creative and driven Associate Director to join our Sustainability Group based in our London office. You will be part of a collaborative, knowledgeable, and highly engaged team within a supportive, flexible, and high performing work culture. This role focuses on overall team leadership, line management, project delivery, technical leadership, and Business Development. You will lead Sustainability workstreams on our most complex projects and be responsible for delivery across the team.

Key responsibilities include:
- Taking ownership and delivering large scale projects with industry leading clients
- Client-facing role, attending project meetings and communicating briefs within the project team
- Managing and prioritising team workload
- Reporting resourcing requirements to project leads
- Contributing to the development of team members
- Delegating, managing, and reviewing work undertaken by others
- Monitoring fee expenditure, resource allocation, and work delivered in collaboration with the Director
- Leading sustainable design analysis workstreams such as embodied carbon, circular economy, building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, and overheating
- Developing sustainability and energy strategies
- Leading environmental assessments (BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc) from early design stages to completion
- Supporting the drive towards net zero whole life carbon in projects
- Collaborating on research and development initiatives to maintain industry-leading knowledge

In addition to project work, there is opportunity to engage in industry research, development studies, and authoring guidance to influence the sustainability sector.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience within a sustainability consultancy, seeking a new challenge at the forefront of the field
- Demonstrable experience leading sustainability workshops with design teams
- Experience working with clients, contractors, and architects in a design-oriented consultancy role
- Experienced team leader and line manager
- In-depth understanding of London planning requirements

Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant field
- Chartered status or recognized professional qualification within the industry
- Detailed knowledge and competence in some of the following areas (not all required): energy strategies, Building Regulations Part L assessments (Elmhurst, IES), NABERS UK modelling, in-use energy modelling, dynamic thermal comfort and overheating risk assessments, BREEAM and HQM assessments, bespoke sustainability charters, health and wellbeing strategies and certification, planning documents (sustainability statements, energy statements, whole life carbon reports, circular economy statements), net zero carbon strategies, embodied carbon calculations, circular economy strategies
