About the Role
As a Band 7 Staff Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality dental hygiene care within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Compliance with local rules relating to radiography, IRMER regulations, and the Dental Radiographic Quality Assurance Audit Policy is essential. You will adhere to departmental and Trust policies on infection control and manual handling, participating in mandatory training as required.

Your role will include assessing new instruments for performance and providing feedback, actively participating in team briefings and peer group reviews, and contributing to the training of other Trust staff grades. You will engage in activities promoting quality of service, including clinical audits and standard setting.

Continuing professional development is a key aspect of this role, with training identified jointly with the head of service to support your personal development. You will ensure the effective and efficient use of resources, agree personal objectives related to service delivery, and manage your time to complete workload on schedule.

Administrative duties include monitoring referrals, managing appointments directly with patients and reception staff, and communicating workload variations to the clinical lead. You will support the clinical team in reviewing services, implementing developments, and proposing changes and innovations.

Additionally, you will contribute to the development, interpretation, implementation, and review of national and local policies, as well as Trust policies, procedures, and standards. Other duties commensurate with this grade may be assigned in agreement with your line manager.

Environmental responsibility is important in this role.
