Central London with hybrid working; expectation to work two to three days a week from the Brecon office.

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Biodiversity Data and GIS Officer to manage and enhance our biodiversity data holdings and carry out spatial analysis to maximize the value of the data. This role offers the opportunity to work within a well-established and forward-thinking Local Environmental Record Centre, part of a network of four Welsh record centres. You will play a key role in supporting Nature Recovery efforts by improving the evidence base through biological records. The successful candidate will liaise regularly with individuals and organisations to improve data flow and provide support to those generating and using biological data. You will be comfortable managing datasets within Excel, learning new data processes, and presenting complex technical information in a visually accessible way. You will join a small, friendly, and supportive team dedicated to providing robust evidence to inform conservation action and decision making throughout mid-Wales. The role involves close collaboration with volunteers, species experts, conservation NGOs, Local Authorities, utility companies, researchers, ecological consultants, and other Welsh LERCs.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience managing biodiversity data and using GIS for spatial analysis. Comfortable working with large datasets in Excel and other data management tools. Experience liaising with diverse stakeholders to improve data quality and flow.

Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent experience in biodiversity, ecology, GIS, or related fields is desirable. Proficiency in GIS software and data management tools is essential.
