About the Role
Working within Neighbourhood Services, which delivers key front-line services including refuse collection, street cleansing, and grounds maintenance, you will manage Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) under the council’s care along with other ecologically significant sites. You will also be responsible for managing the common land within the borough. This role involves leading environmentally focused projects to meet statutory duties and encourage community participation. You will act as the primary point of contact for ecological queries both internally and externally. The post requires a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use, as an essential car user allowance is attached. Successful candidates will be required to use the Microsoft Authenticator app on their own mobile device to securely access the council’s network. The council offers excellent conditions of service including flexible working hours, a pension scheme, and at least 23 days’ paid leave per year (pro rata for part time).

Experience
Experience in managing ecological sites or biodiversity projects is desirable to effectively oversee SSSIs and common land management.

You should be environmentally focused, proactive, and able to lead projects that meet statutory requirements while promoting community involvement. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use are essential. You must be comfortable using mobile technology for secure network access.

Qualifications
