About the Role
As the Built Environment Work Support Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Reactive, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Corrective, Essential, and Minor Works requirements on behalf of APD Built Environment to ensure performance, reliability, and availability objectives are met. You will act as the focal point of contact between various internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all works obligations are delivered to the required standards and specifications, improving the reliability and availability of Built Environment assets.
Your key responsibilities will include supporting buildability and deliverability reviews, facilitating access plans and supplier license applications, analysing works costs for cost-effective delivery, preparing pre/post construction documentation, and leading progress meetings to address time, cost, and quality issues. You will undertake site visits to ensure health, safety, and environmental practices are implemented and chair safety hours, incident investigations, and safety tours.
Additionally, you will review safe systems of work for compliance with CDM regulations and other legislation, support research and development initiatives to improve asset reliability and efficiency, deputise for the Built Environment Construction Manager as required, and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders. You will also utilise the Asset Management System (AMS) to track works progress and provide reports to manage risks and opportunities within the works programmes.
This is a safety critical role within a dynamic environment, offering the opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of London’s transport infrastructure.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience managing construction projects in Railway/Underground environments
- Experience and understanding of Built Environment assets, TfL Engineering Standards, procedures and rulebooks
- Experience of working in track and station environments during Traffic and Engineering Hours
- Experience managing site works and supervising construction phases
- Experience of managing safety and investigating safety-related incidents (desirable)
- Experience with Maximo and reactive works (desirable)
- Experience evaluating tender submissions for maintenance works (desirable)

- IT literate with proficiency in MS Office packages
- Ability to plan, implement and manage reactive issues within Service Level Agreements

Qualifications
- Recognised Construction or Engineering qualification or demonstrable construction experience (essential)
- Formal safety qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH or SMSTS (desirable)
- Working knowledge of Construction, Design and Management Regulations and other key Health, Safety and Environmental legislation (essential)
- Proficient working knowledge of Asset Management Systems such as Maximo (essential)
- Knowledge of planning, resource coordination and project management practices and tools (desirable)
