About Power for People
Power for People is a not-for-profit organisation campaigning for the UK to rapidly transition to 100% renewable energy, ensuring this benefits local communities. Founded in 2017 by three veteran campaigners with extensive experience in successful Parliamentary campaigns, we have grown quickly to tens of thousands of supporters nationwide. Our work focuses on mobilising public support to influence legislative and policy changes at Westminster. We collaborate with MPs, Peers, grassroots groups, and national organisations to advance community-run renewable energy schemes and other transformative environmental legislation.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and highly organised Campaigner to cover a six-month sabbatical. You will work on a major Parliamentary campaign aimed at securing new legislation to enable dramatic growth in local renewable energy projects. Your role will involve engaging MPs and Peers, grassroots organising, managing public communications, fundraising, content creation, and research. Daily tasks will vary according to campaign priorities, requiring flexibility and the ability to switch between different work streams.
You will mobilise supporters, local groups, and national organisations to advocate to their MPs, drafting inspiring communications for supporters, media releases, social media, and our website. The role may involve some travel across the UK to meet community groups and local journalists to recruit and build campaign profile. You will provide tailored support to supporters lobbying their MPs, including assisting with written communications and preparing them for meetings.
Fundraising responsibilities include drafting grant applications and reports, managing financial administration, and identifying new funding opportunities. You will work closely with a small, effective team, receiving guidance and mentoring from the director. You will also line manage a Campaigns Assistant who will support your work. There is potential to extend employment beyond six months depending on performance and funding availability.
