About the Role
Cambridge Regional College has an exciting opportunity for a Caretaker Groundskeeper to join our Facilities team at the Huntingdon Campus. You will play a key role in ensuring our college campuses are well-maintained, safe, and accessible for students, staff, and visitors. This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys practical work and takes initiative. Reporting to the Estates Manager, your responsibilities will include general maintenance, supporting the upkeep of buildings, furniture and equipment, mowing and trimming lawns, planting and maintaining garden beds, pruning trees, bushes and shrubs, monitoring heating and lighting systems and reporting faults, assisting with post and deliveries, emergency cover and key management, conducting weekly water flushing, assisting with minibus cleaning, supervising contractors and tradespeople on site, keeping outdoor areas clean and safe including snow and ice removal, and carrying out college driver assessments (D1 Licence required). Experience
Experience in caretaking or a similar role is required, with practical maintenance skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
About you
You should have a proactive approach, a strong commitment to health and safety, flexibility to respond to emergencies and seasonal demands, and the ability to supervise contractors and tradespeople. A D1 driving licence is required to carry out college driver assessments.
Qualifications
Enhanced DBS check with Barred List clearance is required as part of pre-employment checks. Other formal qualifications are not specified but practical skills and relevant experience are essential.
