Between 07:00 to 16:45 Monday to Saturday. Casual staff typically work between 2-4 days per week. You will be given notice the week prior for the days you are required the following week. A working day is 9.25 hours.

Grade D, SCP 5, £13.26 per hour
About the Role
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is seeking Casual Refuse Collectors to join our Environment & Resident Services team, providing waste and recycling services across the Borough. As a Refuse Collector, you will promote and encourage residents to recycle more and recycle correctly, supporting the Council’s environmental goals.
You will be responsible for collecting all types of environmental waste including household waste, recycling, and garden waste from domestic and commercial properties, ensuring the borough remains clean and safe for all.
Your duties will include following the collection vehicle, safely collecting, emptying, and returning wheelie bins to their collection points. You will assist the driver with safe manoeuvring of the vehicle, particularly reversing, and support other teams as needed.
Full personal protective equipment (PPE) and all relevant health and safety training will be provided to ensure safe completion of all tasks.
Experience
No previous experience is required. Training and support will be provided to ensure you can perform your duties safely and effectively.
