About the Role
Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust (YDRT) is dedicated to the conservation and restoration of the rivers Swale, Ure, Nidd, Wharfe and Ouse and their catchments. We work collaboratively with local communities, national parks, environmental organisations and action groups to deliver impactful projects that restore rivers, enhance biodiversity, improve water quality, and increase resilience to climate change. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Catchment Manager for the River Ure.
You will play a crucial role in planning and developing a pipeline of projects and initiatives to improve the catchment of the River Ure. Working closely with partner organisations, landowners, local communities and other Trust staff, you will develop river restoration projects from the ground up to ensure our rivers thrive. You will act as the key link between partners, stakeholders and communities, helping to turn ambitions into tangible outcomes.
Your work will include raising awareness of the ecological importance of river habitats, promoting good farming practices, and delivering projects such as water quality investigations, pollution reduction, river habitat improvements, wetland creation and river re-naturalisation. You will collaborate with neighbouring catchment partnerships and communities of practice to use data to inform and shape delivery.
Success in this role depends on your ability to build trusted relationships, bring stakeholders together around common goals, and move collaborative projects from concept to delivery. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage people throughout the process are essential.
The role involves hybrid working with a desk in the YDRT office in Pateley Bridge, home-working and travel across the catchment. The post-holder will work well both independently and as part of a team of paid staff and volunteers.
Term: 3 years with potential for the role to become permanent.
Probationary period: Four months with one week’s notice during probation.
Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays.
Pension: Contributory pension scheme with the Trust contributing 9% of salary.
