About the Role
Join Devon County Council and be part of Devon’s sustainable future. This varied and rewarding role places you at the heart of Devon's climate action work, offering opportunities to collaborate with partners across local government, businesses, communities, and regional organisations. You will lead and support projects that reduce carbon emissions and drive system-wide change across the region, accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future. Working within the dynamic Climate and Sustainability Team, you will also support climate adaptation initiatives to help communities, infrastructure, and services become more resilient to the impacts of climate change. The role involves engagement in a wide range of projects including climate resilience, energy planning, renewable energy deployment, building retrofit, carbon offsetting, low carbon travel solutions, local food initiatives, and community and schools engagement. Situated within the Environmental Sustainability Group, you will work collaboratively across the council and with external partners, providing technical advice, shaping strategies and guidance, and supporting partnerships such as the Devon Climate Emergency, Devon Local Nature Partnership, and National Landscapes. This is your chance to contribute to Devon County Council’s ambition to become a net-zero organisation by 2030 and support the county’s goal to reach net-zero by 2050 at the latest. The council offers flexible working arrangements, a supportive team environment, and the opportunity to make a real difference in one of the UK’s most beautiful and environmentally diverse regions.
