About the Role

As a Commercial Manager within our Environment Business Unit, you will provide leadership and commercial expertise, reporting to the Assistant Commercial Director, Environment. Your role will be critical in ensuring bid submissions and projects are commercially robust and aligned with business plan performance metrics.
You will focus on contract and commercial matters essential to business success, building strong client and supplier relationships and enhancing AECOM’s reputation. Acting as a delegate for the Assistant Commercial Director when required, you will support and mentor Operations teams and Commercial colleagues, including Capture Managers and Project Managers.
Your responsibilities will include providing commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle, offering governance and strategic advice to bid teams, and collaborating closely with the Legal function. You will engage proactively with clients and internal teams to improve service quality and financial performance year-on-year. Additionally, you will lead contractual negotiations, support pricing and risk analysis, enforce compliance with Delegations of Authority, and deliver commercial training.

Experience
- Proven post-qualification experience in delivery, legal, commercial, or finance roles within the Built Environment or Construction industry.
- Detailed knowledge of construction contract suites including JCT, Government Frameworks, FIDIC, NEC PSC/ECC.
- Experience drafting and negotiating bespoke agreements with clients and suppliers.
- Pre-contract procurement and commercial management experience.
- Strong understanding of risk mitigation procedures and solution-focused approach.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen, business analysis skills, and ability to interpret financial and commercial data.
- Experience with pricing strategies, cross-border risks, and dispute avoidance/resolution.
- Ability to lead and influence in high-pressure environments with competing deadlines.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in business, finance, law, engineering, or related discipline.
- Postgraduate business qualifications highly advantageous.
- Professional status preferred (e.g., ACCA, ACMA, CPA, MRICS, Law Society).
- Holder or ability to obtain UK government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with preference for Security Check (SC) clearance.
