About the Role
At Amentum, we are engineering the future by tackling significant challenges in science, security, and sustainability with innovation, integrity, and collaboration. As a Commissioning Environmental Engineer, you will be part of the CommOps Industrial and Fire Safety professionals team supporting the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, the first new nuclear power station in the UK in over 20 years. HPC will generate 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, powering around 6 million homes and creating thousands of jobs with lasting economic benefits.

You will report to the Commissioning Environment Lead and work closely with Commissioning Delivery teams to ensure critical work is carried out with minimal environmental impact. Key responsibilities include creating and improving Environmental Safety controls, monitoring and reviewing environmental activities in line with HPC Safety Management System and CommOps Environmental Management Plans, producing environmental safety performance reports, and identifying trends and remedial actions.

You will engage positively with the commissioning programme on environmental risks and hazards, support regulatory interfaces, undertake risk-based assessments and inspections, provide assurance on legal compliance, and contribute as an active member of the Health, Safety and Environmental community across the HPC project. Additionally, you will support emergency preparedness and environmental incident management to protect the environment and community.

Amentum offers a supportive team environment with a competitive benefits package including free single medical cover, digital GP service, enhanced parental leave pay, employee assistance programmes, and reimbursement towards professional development. We value work-life balance and flexibility, welcoming discussions on hybrid and flexible working arrangements to suit both you and the business.
