Communications Officer (Food for Life Scotland)

Part-time, 28 hours per week (0.8 FTE)

£30,500 to £32,000 per annum (FTE)
About the Role
The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity working across human health, the environment and animal welfare. We campaign for change, support farming innovation, serve healthy food in communities, grow the organic market, and protect forests. We rely on our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff to make a difference where it’s needed most.
We are seeking a Communications Officer to join the Food for Life Scotland team to help get more fresh, local and sustainable food onto public sector plates. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver integrated communications for an important cause, working with a passionate and committed team.
You will help strengthen and extend the profile, reach and engagement of the Food for Life Scotland programme with stakeholders, funders, partners and the wider public. Your role will include supporting the team’s strategic and communications objectives through compelling storytelling, content creation, media relations, digital communications, stakeholder engagement and integrated campaign delivery.

Experience
Experience in communications, copywriting and editing is essential. Familiarity with Canva and LinkedIn is required. Experience in media relations, digital communications and stakeholder engagement is highly desirable.

You will be positive, collaborative, highly motivated and well organised. You have excellent attention to detail and empathy with the aims and objectives of the Soil Association. You are passionate about good food, sustainability and making a difference through effective communication.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in communications, marketing or related fields are advantageous but not essential. A strong portfolio of written work and demonstrable skills in content creation and campaign delivery are important.
