About the Role
As a Consents Officer at National Gas, you will provide expert consenting support across a wide portfolio of infrastructure projects. You will guide consenting strategies from early development through to application submission, coordinating environmental assessments and managing key stakeholder engagement throughout the process. Your work will enable project teams to progress delivery smoothly, ensuring that all consents are obtained to programme, cost and specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing siting and routing studies, consenting strategies and consent applications.
- Leading and coordinating environmental assessments and associated documentation.
- Managing Environmental Surveys, Appraisals and Impact Assessments (EIA) alongside specialist studies such as ecology, landscape/visual, heritage, noise, and transport.
- Working with and managing appointed consultants to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Supporting stakeholder engagement, including preparing consultation materials and participating in public consultations.
- Ensuring robust, high-quality documentation is submitted to meet all regulatory requirements.

Experience
- Degree or master’s in planning, environment or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with consenting regimes including TCPA and/or Planning Act.
- Experience in energy or infrastructure planning is desirable.
- Proven track record in managing project consents and EIA-related activities.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to manage external consultants effectively.
