About the Role
The Microsoft data centre development portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large-scale, multi-year data centre construction projects. The Environmental Construction Compliance team supports the delivery of Microsoft’s data centre portfolio from pre-construction to handover to operations. As a Construction Environmental Program Manager, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to prepare for early works and construction, supporting the construction team to achieve schedule dates through rigorous environmental risk management across the EMEA region. Tracking, mapping, and proactive intervention are critical to success.

This role requires regular engagement with key Microsoft stakeholders including legal, design, construction, and operations teams, regulatory agencies, and outside consultants and contractors. You will lead environmental delivery across the construction phase, coordinating with key teams to meet project timelines. You will clarify and coordinate environmental scopes and requirements for contractor tenders and support procurement through bid preparation, evaluation, and award.

Additional responsibilities include assessing contractor capability and resourcing, recruiting, onboarding, developing and supporting site environmental managers, ensuring environmental deliverables, control documents, permit conditions, roles and requirements are in place from project kick-off through to completion. You will monitor environmental performance, data quality, risks, and compliance, driving corrective action and escalating issues and trends to leadership.

You will provide environmental risk, sustainability, and impact reduction expertise, build capability through training and guidance, coordinate handover to operations, and support continuous improvement of the Environmental Excellence program.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers cloud services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. Our infrastructure includes over 200 datacenters in 32 countries supporting more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide.
