About the Role
Glendale Countryside Ltd, the green services division of Alston Investments Ltd, operates across the UK providing grounds management, arboriculture, landscaping, estate management, vegetation control, woodland management, plant supply and relocation, winter services, and sports facility management. With revenues of circa £50 million, Glendale has been at the forefront of green service provision since 1989, offering innovative solutions for total management and maintenance of the green environment.
The Contract Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of the contract, planning tasks and resources to ensure a high quality, efficient, and safe service. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will deputise in their absence and be responsible for organising staff and teams to deliver services in line with Glendale Live schedules.
Key responsibilities include organising staffing and rotas, monitoring progress and quality of work, assisting with recruitment and training, managing employee relations, overseeing vehicle and machinery maintenance, conducting safety inspections and investigations, liaising with clients, producing quotations for additional works, and supporting compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards including BS EN ISO 14001:1996.
This role requires excellent communication skills, strong leadership, and the ability to maintain high standards of service delivery and safety culture.
Experience
Proven experience in grounds maintenance, arboriculture, horticulture, or related contract supervision roles is highly desirable. Experience in staff management, health and safety compliance, and client liaison is essential.

Qualifications
Ideally hold a nationally recognised academic qualification in arboriculture, horticulture, or construction at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, such as:
- National Certificate (BTEC or EdExcel) NVQ Level 3
- Advanced National Certificate
- National Diploma
- Higher National Certificate or Diploma NVQ Level 4
- Foundation Degree
- Bachelor of Science degree NVQ Level 5
- Masters degree NVQ Level 5+
A full, clean UK driving licence is essential for this role.
