As our Corporate Sustainability Manager, you will lead and coordinate sustainability activity across the organisation. You will provide expert guidance, develop corporate policy and strategy, and deliver initiatives that support the Council's environmental objectives. In this role, you will:
- Build and lead the corporate sustainability function
- Develop and embed net-zero and wider sustainability policies
- Provide expertise on greenhouse gas emissions and reduction planning
- Lead projects and initiatives that support organisational and city-wide goals
- Oversee performance reporting, including the annual greenhouse gas account
- Identify funding, partnership and investment opportunities to support delivery
Key responsibilities include designing and delivering sustainability projects from concept to implementation, managing a small team and supporting professional development, developing a performance management framework for reporting and monitoring, ensuring compliance with the Council's Environment & Sustainability Assessment process, advising on emerging legislation, sector innovation and best practice, and engaging internal teams, partners, community groups and stakeholders to drive impact.
Experience
- Relevant degree or extensive senior experience in environmental sustainability
- Experience developing policy/strategy and delivering complex sustainability programmes
- Strong analytical, reporting and greenhouse gas accounting skills
- Proven ability to secure and manage external funding or partnerships
- Experience managing teams and coordinating work across large organisations

You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and diverse stakeholders. You are passionate about driving meaningful change that benefits residents, communities and the environment.
Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent senior experience in environmental sustainability is required.
