About the Role
At Clancy Group, we care deeply about the environments we work in and the impact we leave behind. We are delivering some of the South's most significant water infrastructure projects while protecting habitats, species, and watercourses that make the region unique. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ecological Clerk of Works to support the delivery of two major projects: Southern Water's Andover Link Main and Portsmouth Water's Havant Thicket Reservoir pipeline scheme.

In this hands-on, site-based role, you will work closely with construction teams to provide ecological advice, supervision, and monitoring throughout the construction phase. Your expertise will help ensure works are delivered safely, responsibly, and in line with ecological legislation, permits, and project requirements.

Key Projects:
- Andover Link Main: A major new pipeline connecting Winchester and Andover, securing future water supplies and reducing abstraction from Hampshire's internationally important chalk streams.
- Havant Thicket Reservoir Pipeline: An 8.5km pipeline and pumping station forming part of the wider reservoir programme, enhancing drought resilience and supporting future water demand.

These projects traverse environmentally sensitive areas, making your ecological expertise critical to their successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ecological advice and support throughout the construction phase.
- Undertake pre-start checks, site walkovers, and ecological inspections.
- Monitor compliance with ecological mitigation measures.
- Conduct ecological supervision and watching briefs.
- Advise on protected species, nesting birds, invasive species, habitats, trees, hedgerows, and watercourses.
- Support the implementation of ecological controls and precautionary working methods.
- Deliver ecological briefings and toolbox talks.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and site documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Environmental Advisors, specialist consultants, and client representatives.
- Escalate and challenge activities posing ecological risks.

Joining Clancy means contributing to major infrastructure projects while protecting the natural environment. As a family-owned business with over 70 years of experience, we are committed to doing the right thing for our people, clients, and communities. If you want to combine practical ecology with major infrastructure delivery and see the real impact of your work, we would love to hear from you.
