About the Role
Join Croft Ecology Ltd, a small but growing consultancy based in South Leicestershire, working across the Midlands. We focus on a wide range of projects, primarily small to medium-sized developments, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, protected species surveys, mitigation licences, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and habitat management plans. We prioritise people, offering genuine flexibility, trust, and work-life balance with a 4-day working week and every Friday off without salary reduction.
As an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist, you will take on increased responsibility by leading surveys such as UKHab/Phase 1, protected species, and BNG assessments. You will write clear, practical reports including PEAs, BNG, EcIAs, Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRAs), licence applications, and habitat management plans. The role involves using QGIS and Coreo for mapping and BNG calculations, advising clients on ecological constraints and opportunities, and contributing to biodiversity enhancements and habitat restoration initiatives. You will work closely with clients, regulators, and stakeholders, support the wider team by sharing knowledge, and help grow the consultancy’s professional service without the burnout of large consultancies.
