About the Role
The Energy & Sustainability Manager will lead the delivery of environmentally sustainable solutions and compliance across a national facilities management contract. This role suits a strategic thinker who can create tailored and innovative solutions delivering utility and broader environmental improvements aligned with industry standards and client aspirations. You will identify, evaluate, negotiate, and conclude high-impact energy and environmental solutions, playing a senior role within the account and EMCOR UK’s Carbon Transformation products and services.

You will support new product development and develop new energy solutions such as alternative energy options, renewable and sustainable energy resources, energy conservation, and asset optimisation in the built environment. This dynamic role requires strong leadership and the ability to connect with key clients to understand and deliver their environmental aspirations.

Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, and delivering energy and sustainability strategies aligned with client drivers and contract solutions
- Producing Carbon/Net Zero Transition Plans and broader Environmental Management Plans incorporating industry best practice and accreditation
- Delivering Building and BMS Optimisation solutions within EMCOR UK's Carbon Transformation and Asset Dynamics frameworks
- Managing the Energy Bureau solution including billing, validation, forecasting, reporting, benchmarking, and payment
- Reviewing and assessing estate performance against environmental plans and building specifications
- Driving efficiencies to meet and exceed client targets
- Developing energy and sustainability reporting including M&T, trend analysis, and specialist software utilization
- Integrating reduction solutions within asset lifecycle and investment cycles
- Preparing and presenting credible performance reports with data insights and progress updates
- Optimising operating efficiency of assets, systems, and sub-systems across the portfolio
- Developing site-specific carbon reduction pathways with quantified net zero opportunities
- Building strong relationships with client stakeholders and EMCOR UK teams
- Translating strategies and plans into actionable projects meeting client and internal objectives
- Managing capital investment programming and technical programmes involving subcontractors and consultants
- Supporting small works, revenue, and capital project delivery with project scoping and optioneering
- Maintaining and expanding knowledge of emerging technologies, processes, and legislation related to energy, carbon, and environmental agendas
- Promoting energy and environmental sustainability awareness focusing on waste avoidance and consumption reduction
- Ensuring compliance with management systems (ISO 14001 & 50001), supporting audits, and addressing non-conformities

This role requires willingness to travel nationally and the ability to obtain or hold National Security Clearance.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven track record of cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders, supply chain partners, and customers
- Demonstrable competence in Energy Management within complex, asset-rich environments
- Experience in energy markets, contract negotiations, renewable energy development, and generation technologies
- Technical expertise in implementing energy solutions
- Experience developing and negotiating energy and sustainability partnerships with enterprise companies and green funding options
- Ability to evaluate new business models, policies, and agreements related to energy, cleantech, or sustainability
- Experience working with industry stakeholders such as utilities, global energy companies, and OEMs
- Proficient in energy industry software/IT tools and cloud enablement
- Experience informing businesses on energy management and sustainability best practices
- IT literate with skills in Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Smartsheets, and Visio
- Experience within the FM industry at a senior operational level is desirable
- Knowledge of customer operations, business drivers, financials, legislative requirements, and specialist information sources

Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Building Services, Energy Engineering, or demonstrably equivalent experience or qualifications
- Understanding of HVAC, refrigeration, and lighting operation principles
- Operational knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and control theory
- Competency in benchmarking techniques and statistical analysis
- Ability to prepare fully costed energy efficiency proposals and reports
- Understanding of Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Energy Management Standards (EnMS) is desirable

Other Factors
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required
- National Security Clearance should be held or obtainable
