About the Role
We are looking for an Engagement Ranger to help people connect with, enjoy and care for the Peak District National Park. In this role, you will be a visible and approachable presence in your area, engaging with visitors and local communities to help them enjoy the National Park responsibly. You will provide advice and information, deliver engaging pop-up events that help people understand and appreciate the Peak District’s special qualities. You will work with colleagues, volunteers and partner organisations to support nature conservation, promote responsible access and encourage positive behaviour in the countryside. You will also monitor rights of way and access land, identify issues affecting visitors or the landscape and ensure that the National Park remains a special place for everyone.
This role involves working outdoors in all weathers, including at busy visitor locations and during weekends and bank holidays when required. You will need to be comfortable working independently across your area, while contributing to a dispersed ranger team. An Authority vehicle will be available for travel across your designated area.

We recognise the importance of our national park, and our job is to speak up and care for the Peak District National Park for all to enjoy forever.
Benefits
We offer a range of staff benefits including flexi-time, a high-quality defined benefit pension scheme (2 years to qualifying period), 26-31 days holiday (plus bank holidays) with the option to purchase more, volunteering leave and free parking at most of our offices.
Experience
Experience of delivering public engagement, educational activities or events. Practical experience delivering infrastructure repairs such as installation of gates, fences and signage. Experience working outdoors and observing/reporting issues on rights of way and access land.
About You
Passionate about the countryside and helping people connect with nature. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence to engage positively with a wide range of people, including in challenging situations. Understanding of countryside access, responsible recreation and the importance of protecting the natural environment. Organised, proactive and able to manage your own workload, identify priorities and work effectively with colleagues and partners. Comfortable working independently and outdoors in all weather conditions.
