About the Role
The Environment Advisor at the University of Northampton plays a key role in advancing the University's environmental and sustainability agenda. Reporting to the Head of Hard and Infrastructure Services, you will support the management of the environmental management system and ensure legal compliance. You will contribute to the carbon management and reduction plan, energy monitoring, sustainable travel plan, and biodiversity initiatives. Additionally, you will support staff and student engagement activities to embed sustainability across the institution.

This role requires collaboration with academic and professional staff to foster a culture of environmental awareness. You will represent the University in consultations with government agencies and professional networks, contributing to sector-wide guidance. You will also maintain accurate data systems, produce reports for senior committees, and support investigations into environmental incidents.

Requirements

Experience
Proven project management skills with strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Experience in environmental management or sustainability within an institutional or similar setting is highly desirable.

Qualifications
Essential:
- A diploma, degree, or relevant professional qualification in travel planning, sustainable transport, environmental management, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.

Desirable:
- Additional qualifications or experience in travel planning, sustainable transport, environmental management, or related disciplines.
