About the Role
Join Suffolk County Council as an Environment Strategy Project Manager and be part of a modern, flexible, and effective organisation committed to making a positive difference to the environment and communities we serve. You will work within a small, dynamic team focused on decarbonising transport in Suffolk through the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) project, delivering EV charging infrastructure across the county.
Your role will involve liaising with District Council colleagues and landowning organisations to secure agreements for hosting EV chargepoints. This requires strong negotiation and persuasion skills, as well as the ability to explain complex and technical information clearly to diverse audiences. Public speaking and presentation skills are essential.
You will maintain meticulous records of site progress, supported by excellent IT skills and attention to detail. A key objective is to facilitate legally-binding agreements with landowners and EV chargepoint providers, so familiarity with legal documents such as Leases and Licences is advantageous.
Supporting the Senior Project Manager, you will also manage relationships with technical stakeholders including Highways, Planning, Legal, and Property teams, requiring excellent relationship management skills and some prior knowledge of these areas.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to Suffolk’s carbon reduction goals, particularly in transport emissions, while developing your professional skills in a supportive and flexible work environment.
Experience
- Proven ability to manage projects involving coordination with internal teams and external partners.
- Experience tailoring communication to suit different audiences and explaining complex technical or legal information clearly.
- Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with legal/property transactions related to leases and licences is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent IT skills and attention to detail.
About you
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, comfortable with public speaking.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about tackling carbon emissions and supporting sustainable transport.
- Ability and willingness to learn about legal and property processes.
- Meticulous and organised with the patience to see projects through to completion.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Qualifications
- No specific qualifications are mandated; however, relevant experience and a commitment to professional development are valued.
