£28,605 - £31,029 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environment and Waste Technician with a focus on community engagement within the Waste Strategy and Policy Team. You will engage with local communities to support their efforts to reduce waste and assist in delivering waste projects and initiatives. Your role will involve identifying opportunities and working with a range of organisations including Leicestershire communities and voluntary groups. You will develop, plan and deliver community engagement activities such as workshops and events, utilising local amenities where possible to support projects that contribute to shared waste initiatives and positive behavioural change. Additionally, you will engage with members of the public and support organisations in delivering waste initiatives through writing newsletter articles, social media posts, and event delivery. You will work in partnership with internal and external partners and assist in the preparation and delivery of reports.
Experience
- Developing working relationships with a variety of stakeholders such as community groups, charities, and schools.
About you
- Interest in waste and the environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to plan work.
- Able to work effectively alone or as part of a team.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
- Flexible approach and cooperative.
- Able to demonstrate tact but be assertive when required.
- Commitment to delivering accessible and inclusive services that meet the needs of all residents.
Qualifications
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
- BTEC National, NVQ Level 3 or 2 A Levels.
