Hours
37 hours per week (Full Time Equivalent). Two permanent positions available: 1 FTE (37 hours) and 0.8 FTE (30 hours).

Salary
£28,605 - £31,029 per annum (pro rata for part time)

About the Role
Join the Sustainable Travel Team focusing predominantly on the Public Transport workstream to support the delivery of improvements to public transport across Leicestershire. The county benefits from a strong commercial bus network, complemented by local bus services tendered by the team, including FoxConnect and taxi-based demand responsive transport services. Additional government funding will enhance public transport information and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include managing budgets (capital and revenue) and programmes for bus service improvement projects, responding professionally to queries from the public, elected Members, and stakeholders, and addressing the impact of roadworks on local bus services through procurement of alternative transport and information provision.

You will assist with the administration of Bus Service Registrations, report network changes, analyse usage data, and propose actions. The role involves liaising with schools, businesses, police, bus operators, elected Members, and other parties to promote active and sustainable travel, travel planning, passenger transport, and the public rights of way network.

Additional duties include supporting the delivery of sustainable travel planning obligations under Section 106 Agreements, commenting on planning application consultations, and managing transport databases to ensure accurate data maintenance and reporting.

Flexible working options may be considered, including part-time, job sharing, term-time working, flexible start and finish times, and hybrid working depending on service requirements.

Requirements

Experience
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject area, or demonstrable work experience in a public-facing business.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Access, Excel or equivalent packages to a high standard.
- Good numerical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload to tight deadlines and use own initiative.
- Experience supervising the work of others is desirable.
- Skills in collecting, collating, and manipulating statistical information/data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrating tact, assertiveness, diplomacy, and political awareness.
- Customer-focused approach with the customer experience central to service delivery.
- Full and valid driving licence with access to a vehicle for business travel.
- Ability to build positive, open, and transparent relationships with stakeholders, peers, and partners based on trust.

Qualifications
