About the Role
This internship sits within the British Embassy's Economic Climate and Science (ECS) team. The successful candidate will support a wide portfolio of programmes and diplomatic initiatives related to the climate and nature agenda. Working under a matrix management scheme, the intern will report to multiple team leaders and engage across evolving environments. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in diplomacy, international cooperation, programme and project management, and environmental subjects.
The intern will collaborate closely with different Embassy teams and UK government departments, supporting the organisation and delivery of official events, meetings, and visits, including preparation of agendas, briefings, and logistics. They will assist with strategic communications, updating programme information, generating creative ideas to promote the UK's work on climate and nature, and liaising with the Embassy communications team for social media and press activities.
Research and reporting duties include gathering information on policies and developments from UK, Colombian, and international sources related to climate, nature, technology, and innovation. The intern will draft documents and reports as required. Administrative support will involve budget management, supplier coordination, and payment processing.
Programme and project management support will focus on the International Climate Finance (ICF) UK commitment portfolio. The intern is expected to actively participate in wider Embassy activities, committees, and events, and undertake any other tasks necessary for the ECS team's daily operations.
Experience
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Government and Public Affairs, or related fields.
- Experience in event planning and delivery.
- Good knowledge and experience working with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Excel.
- Interest in international cooperation and programme/project management.

Qualifications
- Availability of at least 6 months before graduation date (mandatory).
- Internship must be a requirement for obtaining the degree.
- Please note this internship does not count as a judiciary role (judicatura).
Desirable
- Experience working with WordPress.
- Experience in environmental, biodiversity, or related fields.
Additional Requirements
- Legal status to live and work in Colombia.
- Successful candidates will undergo a background check according to Embassy policies.
