About the Role
This internship is based within the British Embassy's Economic Climate and Science (ECS) team. The successful candidate will support a diverse portfolio of programmes and diplomatic initiatives focused on the climate and nature agenda. Working under a matrix management structure, the intern will report to multiple team leaders and collaborate across various Embassy departments and UK government agencies. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in diplomacy, international cooperation, programme and project management, and environmental policy.

The intern will assist with organising official events, meetings, and visits, including preparing agendas, briefings, and managing logistics such as venues and catering. They will support internal and external communications by updating programme information, contributing creative ideas for promoting the UK's climate and nature work, and liaising with the Embassy communications team for social media and press activities.

Research and reporting duties include gathering information on relevant policies and developments from UK, Colombian, and international sources, drafting documents and reports. Administrative support will cover budget management, supplier coordination, and payments. The intern will also contribute to managing a portfolio of climate and nature programmes under the UK's International Climate Finance commitment and actively participate in Embassy committees and events.

The role requires flexibility to undertake additional duties as needed and offers a chance to engage with a wide range of stakeholders in a dynamic international environment.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience in event planning and delivery.
- Good knowledge and experience working with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience working with WordPress software is desirable.
- Experience in environmental, biodiversity, or related fields is desirable.

About you
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Government and Public Affairs, or related fields.
- Availability of at least 6 months before graduation to complete the internship.
- Interest in international cooperation, programme and project management.
- Responsible, well organised, and committed.
- Able to interact and collaborate effectively with different stakeholders.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Skilled in working under pressure and meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.

Qualifications
- Must be in the last years of undergraduate studies.
- Internship must be a requirement for obtaining the degree.
- Legal status to live and work in Colombia is mandatory.
- The internship does not count as a judiciary role (judicatura).
