About the Role
This internship is based within the British Embassy's Economic Climate and Science (ECS) team. The successful candidate will support a wide portfolio of programmes and diplomatic initiatives related to the climate and nature agenda. Working in a matrix management environment, the intern will report to multiple team leaders and engage across diverse and evolving contexts. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in diplomacy, international cooperation, programme and project management, and environmental issues.
The intern will assist with organising and delivering official events, meetings, and visits, including preparing agendas, briefings, and managing logistics such as quotes, catering, venues, and invitations. They will support internal and external communications by updating programme information, generating creative ideas to communicate the UK's impact on climate and nature, and liaising with the Embassy communications team for social media and press activities.
Research and reporting duties include gathering information on policies and developments from UK and Colombian governments and international stakeholders in areas such as climate, nature, technology, and innovation. Drafting documents and reports will be expected. Administrative support will involve budget management, supplier coordination, and payment processing.
The intern will also contribute to managing a portfolio of climate and nature programmes under the UK's International Climate Finance commitment and actively participate in wider Embassy activities, committees, and events. Additional tasks may be assigned as part of the team's daily operations.
Experience
- Experience in event planning and delivery is required.
- Good knowledge of current national and international affairs.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with WordPress and environmental or biodiversity fields is desirable.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Government and Public Affairs, or related fields.
- Must have at least 6 months of availability before graduation.
- Internship must be a requirement for obtaining the degree.
- Legal status to live and work in Colombia is mandatory.
