About the Role
This internship sits within the British Embassy's Economic Climate and Science team (ECS). The successful candidate will support a wide portfolio of programmes and diplomatic initiatives related to the climate and nature agenda. Working in a matrix management environment, the intern will report to multiple team leaders and collaborate across various Embassy teams and UK government departments. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in diplomacy, international cooperation, programme and project management, and environmental issues.
Key responsibilities include supporting the organisation and delivery of official events, meetings, and visits; assisting with strategic communications and promotion of the UK's climate and nature initiatives; conducting research and producing reports on relevant policies and developments; managing administrative tasks such as budget and supplier coordination; and supporting the management of diverse climate and nature programmes under the UK's International Climate Finance commitment. The intern will also actively participate in Embassy activities and committees.
The role requires flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with attention to detail. The internship duration is 6 months, starting 19 January 2026 and ending 18 July 2026.
Experience
- Experience in event planning and delivery is required.
- Good knowledge of current national and international affairs.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with WordPress and environmental or biodiversity fields is desirable.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Government and Public Affairs, or related fields.
- Must have at least 6 months availability before graduation.
- Internship must be a requirement for obtaining the degree.
- Please note this internship does not count as a judiciary role (judicatura).
