About the Role
This internship sits within the British Embassy's Economic Climate and Science team (ECS) and offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in diplomacy, international cooperation, and environmental programme management. The successful candidate will support a wide portfolio of programmes and diplomatic initiatives related to the climate and nature agenda, working in a matrix management environment with multiple team leaders. Responsibilities include supporting event organisation and delivery, assisting with strategic communications, conducting research and reporting on environmental and policy topics, managing administrative tasks such as budget and payments, and supporting programme and project management under the UK's International Climate Finance commitment. The role involves close collaboration with various Embassy teams and UK government departments, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. The internship lasts 6 months, starting 19 January 2026 and ending 18 July 2026, with flexible working arrangements where operationally possible.
Experience
- Experience in event planning and delivery is required.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with WordPress software is desirable.
- Experience in environmental, biodiversity, or related fields is an advantage.
About you
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Government and Public Affairs, or related fields.
- Availability of at least 6 months before graduation to complete the internship.
- Good knowledge of current national and international affairs.
- Interest in international cooperation and programme/project management.
- Responsible, well organised, and committed.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Able to interact and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
Qualifications
- Must be in the last years of undergraduate studies.
- Internship must be a requirement for obtaining the degree.
- Legal status to live and work in Colombia is mandatory.
- Successful candidates will undergo a background check according to Embassy policies.
