Salary
£37,000 - £42,000 per annum.

About the Role
The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) seeks a dynamic and highly organised individual to join our expanding Environmental Defenders (ED) programme. This is an exciting opportunity to support grassroots leaders who protect our planet and defend interlinked human rights. Working closely with the Global Programme Coordinator, you will help deliver tailored training on advocacy, investigation, and filmmaking to environmental defenders worldwide. Initially, you will support coordination of the new Ocean Defenders project alongside EJF teams in Southeast Asia and West Africa. As a skilled multitasker and coordinator, you will lead operational and logistical elements of capacity-strengthening programmes, build and maintain strong partner relationships, and ensure high-quality, tailored support. The role requires excellent planning, strong attention to detail, and a passion for helping others. Significant growth and learning opportunities are offered, including overseas training projects and increased project management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organise in-person and remote support for environmental defenders, including scheduling, budgeting, logistics, and administration.
- Support implementation of the capacity-strengthening programme, ensuring continuous progress towards deliverables.
- Coordinate with grassroots NGOs and civil society leaders, maintaining relationships, collecting feedback, and monitoring support needs.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes to measure impact and adapt to emerging priorities.
- Develop and streamline internal processes, including templates and centralising training materials.
- Assist with report production for funders and support securing new funding.
- Support communications efforts by drafting content, sharing successes, and enhancing programme visibility.
- Manage digital image assets to drive engagement.
- Conduct research and participate in networking to identify new partners.
- Liaise with finance to ensure budget adherence and value for money.
Experience
- At least 2-3 years professional experience in environmental action, human rights, international development, project management, or related fields.
- Experience coordinating logistics for international trips, events, or complex projects.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with partners across cultures and time zones.
- Experience managing complex schedules and meeting deadlines.
- Budget management experience including planning and reporting.
- Strong research, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- High attention to detail and reliability.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to adapt to changes and learn quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills and diplomatic collaboration.
