This multidisciplinary service covers Bridgend County Borough and the Vale of Glamorgan, delivering private sector housing, pollution control, and public health functions. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to local communities by protecting public health, improving housing conditions, and ensuring compliance with environmental health legislation.
You will undertake investigations and deliver effective enforcement in accordance with relevant environmental health legislation. Key responsibilities include investigating statutory nuisance complaints, improving housing conditions within the private rented sector, and securing compliance through informal and formal enforcement action where appropriate.
You will work with owners, developers, and partners to bring vacant and long-term empty properties back into use, supporting regeneration, housing supply, and communities. Additionally, you will provide specialist environmental health advice and consultation responses related to Planning and Licensing applications, helping to protect public health and the wider environment.
Working closely with colleagues, partner agencies, landlords, businesses, and residents, you will play an important role in improving housing standards and protecting the health and wellbeing of local communities. The team is friendly, supportive, and collaborative, with a strong focus on learning and professional development. Alongside flexible and hybrid working options, generous leave, and Local Government Pension Scheme membership, you will enjoy the benefits of working for one of Wales' highest-performing councils in a county known for its outstanding quality of life, stunning coastline, countryside, and excellent transport links to Cardiff and beyond.
