About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and community-focused Environmental Initiatives Officer to lead and support a range of environmental, volunteering, and social value programmes across the borough. This role involves working closely with residents, community groups, partners, and contractors to deliver projects that enhance local neighbourhoods, promote sustainability, and encourage community participation. Key responsibilities include coordinating volunteer activities and environmental campaigns, supporting allotments and food-growing initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of meaningful social value outcomes. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating cleaner, greener, and more vibrant communities.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver environmental and community initiatives such as Spring Clean, Environmental Volunteers, Allotments, London in Bloom, Bulb Giveaway, and Bee-Friendly Streets programmes.
- Engage residents and community groups to promote sustainable waste management and the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle through education and outreach.
- Manage the annual Community Benefit Plan, ensuring social value commitments are delivered through contracted services.
- Maintain accurate records, coordinate project schedules and volunteer events, and collaborate with council teams, contractors, partners, and local communities.
- Provide excellent customer service while supporting the development of allotments and community food-growing projects across the borough.

Experience
Experience working with community groups and environmental initiatives is desirable. Proven ability to coordinate projects and engage with diverse stakeholders is advantageous.

Qualifications
- Vocational qualification in a relevant subject or area (preferred)
- GCSEs or equivalent (required)
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (required)
- Full UK driving licence and use of own transport for Council business (required)
