About the Role
We have a fantastic career development opportunity for an Environmental Manager to join the team on our brand new £124m major highways project in Leiston, part of the Sizewell C development. Reporting to the Project Leads and Infrastructure Business Unit Environmental Lead, you will support and implement environmental strategy and systems to ensure exemplary environmental standards throughout project delivery. This role focuses on improving and maintaining consistent environmental performance, ensuring compliance with management systems, and driving continual improvement initiatives. You will also contribute to environmental improvements across the Galliford Try Group.
Key responsibilities include providing environmental input from planning to completion, supporting Group and Business Unit Environmental Strategies, developing scheme-specific strategies, and driving the environmental agenda within senior leadership teams. You will assist clients with statutory requirements and sustainability objectives such as BREEAM, implement environmental management systems aligned with client needs and legislation, monitor environmental performance through audits and inspections, engage with key stakeholders, lead or support environmental incident management, and assist with onboarding and managing supply chain partners.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a major infrastructure project within a leading principal contractor, with a strong focus on sustainability, compliance, and innovation.
Experience
- Proven track record in environmental compliance and managing environmental aspects, ideally within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with environmental management systems, audits, and incident management.
- Familiarity with digital systems such as GIS and Office 365.
- Experience with CEQUAAL/BREEAM and environmental investigation training is advantageous.
