About the Role
Become a part of the UK's top-rated construction and civil engineering graduate programme, recognised as the No.1 choice for graduates by TheJobCrowd and winner of the Environmental and Ethical Awareness category. Our Graduate Development Programme offers a rich, hands-on experience where you will develop your technical skills, grow your network and gain professional qualifications if you choose. You will work alongside some of the best people in the industry in a full-time role, starting an exciting and rewarding career that enables you to add value to society.

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will assist Site Engineers with setting out and engineering control on site. Your responsibilities will include participating in creating a safe working environment, assisting in site engineering control and setting out activities, completing diary sheets with photographic evidence, assisting in material reconciliations, ensuring surveying equipment is calibrated, carrying out as-built surveys, supporting the production of 2D and 3D site sketches, maintaining quality records in line with Inspection & Test Plans, assisting in basic planning and programming, controlling and minimising waste on site, and identifying or assisting in introducing new processes, techniques and innovations.

This role is available for a September 2026 start, with the possibility of an earlier start date to suit both you and the business. You will be expected to work in and around the advertised locations, with potential travel to other projects and locations in the future, which may include staying away from home.

Galliford Try is a leading construction company committed to improving the UK's built environment and delivering lasting change in the communities we serve. We promote an inclusive culture focused on health, safety and wellbeing through our 'Be Well' programme, offering gym discounts and support for wellbeing topics. Motivated and enthusiastic individuals are encouraged to join us in making a meaningful difference.

Our two-year development programme runs alongside your permanent role and covers seven modules designed to enhance your interpersonal and leadership skills, complementing the technical experience you gain. If you choose to pursue professional qualifications, we will fully fund them and provide a dedicated mentor. The programme concludes with a celebration and promotion to the next stage of your career.

Additional benefits include a company car or car benefit scheme (role dependent), 28 days holiday excluding bank holidays (increasing with service), private medical insurance, two paid volunteering days per year, an agile working programme, and a range of benefit schemes such as Save as You Earn share purchase, Employee Assistance Programme, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, pension scheme, Cycle to Work scheme, and discounts on brands and holidays.
