About the Role
We have a fantastic career development opportunity for an Environmental Manager to join the team on our brand new £124m major highways project in Leiston, part of the Sizewell C development. Reporting to the Project Leads and Infrastructure Business Unit Environmental Lead, you will support and implement environmental strategy and systems to ensure exemplary environmental standards throughout project delivery. This role focuses on improving and maintaining consistent environmental performance, ensuring compliance with management systems, and driving continual improvement initiatives. You will also support Galliford Try Group in advancing environmental improvements across the business.

Key responsibilities include providing environmental input from planning through to completion, supporting Group and Business Unit Environmental Strategies, developing scheme-specific strategies, and driving the environmental agenda within senior leadership teams. You will assist clients with statutory requirements and sustainability objectives such as BREEAM, implement environmental management systems aligned with client needs and legislation, monitor environmental performance through audits and inspections, engage with key stakeholders including clients, supply chain and regulatory bodies, lead or support environmental incident management, and assist with onboarding and managing supply chain partners.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile infrastructure project within a leading principal contractor, contributing to sustainable and compliant project delivery while supporting wider business environmental initiatives.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven track record in environmental compliance and managing environmental aspects, ideally within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with environmental management systems, audits, inspections, and incident management.
- Familiarity with statutory requirements and sustainability frameworks such as BREEAM.

- Solution-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated decision maker.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experienced with digital systems such as GIS and Office 365.
- Committed to driving environmental improvements and continuous learning.

Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in an environmental discipline.
- Industry-recognized training in investigation.
- Ideally qualified as a Lead Auditor for ISO 14001.
- Experience with CEQUAAL/BREEAM.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as IEMA, CIWEM, or IES.
