About the Role
Are you ready to lead environmental strategy across high-impact civil engineering works? We are seeking a proactive and solutions-focused Environmental Manager to ensure our clients' projects meet and exceed sustainability and compliance standards. Our client is a successful Civil Engineering contractor with a long history of delivering complex projects including Marine, Renewables, Power & Transmission. Your work will help shape a greener, safer built environment from early planning through to project completion.
As the Environmental Manager, you will be a key player in both pre-construction planning and live site support. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Leading environmental compliance across multiple sites in line with UK legislation, planning consents and best practice
- Developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans (EMP/CEMP)
- Advising design, construction and SHEQ teams on ecology, pollution control, waste, noise, and carbon reduction
- Engaging with local authorities, clients, subcontractors and regulators such as EA, NRW, SEPA
- Conducting audits and site inspections to identify risks and ensure corrective actions
- Producing clear reports and KPIs to support governance and continuous improvement
- Driving delivery of sustainability goals including Net Zero, biodiversity net gain and circular economy initiatives

Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Environmental Management within civil engineering or construction
- Strong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation, planning frameworks and ISO 14001
- Experience developing and managing CEMPs, EMPs, SWMPs and delivering training
- Confidence working with site teams and regulators
- Experience with major infrastructure projects preferred

Qualifications
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or similar
- Full UK driving licence
- Membership of IEMA, CIWEM or similar professional body desirable
- NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent desirable
