About the Role

As an Environmental Pollution Technician, you will be at the forefront of our mission to protect and restore our natural environment. This role is about contributing to a sustainable future by preventing environmental impacts and supporting the health of our region.
Your work will have a direct impact on the environment we serve, guiding efforts to prevent potential risks. You will join operational front-line teams responding to events, supporting investigations, improving practices, and engaging with stakeholders and communities.
No prior background in environmental management or water industry operations is required; we value passion, curiosity, and determination to improve. The role is varied and field-based, involving collaboration with teams, communities, and stakeholders.
Typical activities include:
- Gathering data and samples to monitor watercourse health and working to improve them where needed
- Being the first responder to potential environmental issues, conducting sampling, photography, and detailed observations
- Supporting investigations to identify root causes and promote best practices
- Acting as the primary contact for stakeholder liaison during events, maintaining trusted and transparent relationships with regulators
- Ensuring pollution mitigation equipment is ready and available
- Being available on standby outside core hours to maintain excellent pollution response
- Acting as an ambassador for Anglian Water by protecting and enhancing the environment and engaging community groups in river health improvements
Experience
Experience in the environmental field or water industry is beneficial but not essential. A full UK driving licence is essential due to travel requirements across the region.

You are passionate about protecting the environment and eager to learn about the water industry. You can work independently with appropriate training and support, enjoy problem-solving, and have a curious mindset. You are capable of managing competing priorities and performing well under pressure.

No specific qualifications are required; however, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude are essential.
