Location
Hybrid, with office located in Waterloo, Central London (Zone 1). Core team days in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Office attendance on other days is subject to personal preference and business needs.
Hours
Monday - Friday, full time, 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working requests such as compressed or part time hours are welcome for discussion.
Salary
£33,949 - £39,253 per annum, dependent upon experience.

The Aldersgate Group is a politically impartial, member-based organisation advocating for effective climate and environmental action to support a sustainable UK economy. We work closely with leading businesses, NGOs, professional institutes and academic institutions to accelerate progress on climate and environmental issues as part of a growing economy.
We are seeking a capable, motivated and enthusiastic External Affairs Officer to administer, coordinate and support activities across our public affairs and communications functions. Reporting to the External Affairs Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-impact public affairs and communications, working closely with colleagues across the organisation and liaising with Aldersgate Group members.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence environment and economic policy at the heart of Whitehall and Westminster. You will work across climate, energy and nature issues with some flexibility to shape the role according to your strengths and career ambitions.
The External Affairs team focuses on:
- Intelligence: Monitoring, reporting and analysing information to build understanding
- Networks: Identifying, forming and developing relationships to secure access
- Proposals: Presenting, progressing and delivering policies to generate interest
- Profile: Developing, establishing and enhancing our voice to increase reach
Main duties include producing political and media updates, organising webinars and member meetings, coordinating stakeholder engagement using CRM tools, representing the Group at external events, managing publications and social media content, handling media inquiries, coordinating events and campaigns, and supporting member recruitment and retention.
The role offers the chance to work within a supportive and engaged team, contributing to meaningful environmental progress through strategic public affairs and communications work.
Experience
- Proven ability to work proactively and independently to monitor and report on political and media developments.
- Experience in stakeholder mapping and relationship building, with confidence engaging senior-level contacts.
- Strong written, oral and creative communication skills.
- Broad understanding of UK media and social media, with experience producing publications and online content.
- Experience coordinating events.
- Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities and maintain strategic focus.
