The South West Peatland Partnership (SWPP) is a collaboration of 22 partner organisations working to restore and protect peatlands across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. Hosted by South West Water, SWPP delivers large-scale environmental improvements through funding programmes including Defra's Nature for Climate Peatland Grant Scheme.
As a Farm Officer, you will play a key role in engaging farmers, landowners and rural stakeholders to deliver peatland restoration and sustainable land management. You will provide advice on agri-environment schemes, grazing management and sustainable land use, support farmers through funding applications, build strong relationships within farming communities, and collaborate with restoration and monitoring specialists.
Your responsibilities will include delivering site visits, workshops and engagement events, collecting and recording project data using GIS and LandApp, producing reports and presentations for funders and stakeholders, and keeping up to date with agricultural policy and environmental best practices.

Experience
- Experience working within agriculture, environmental land management or conservation
- Knowledge of upland farming systems and agri-environment schemes
- Experience advising farmers, landowners or rural businesses
- Experience preparing and delivering Higher Tier scheme applications
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and GIS/mapping software
- Experience using LandApp or similar land management platforms is advantageous
- Experience of ecological survey or monitoring is desirable
- Knowledge of South West habitats and conservation management is beneficial
- Familiarity with NoFence collar systems is a plus
About you
You will be passionate about upland farming and habitat restoration, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You are confident working independently and collaboratively, able to engage effectively with diverse rural stakeholders. A full UK driving licence is essential due to frequent travel and occasional evening and overnight commitments.
Qualifications
A degree in Agriculture or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, is required.
